The recent case of Hoyle v Hampshire County Council has caused many, land owners and tree surveyors, to pause and consider: what is needed to ensure that the tree owner has confidence that their trees are safe? And what makes for a defendable management plan. I have been reviewing the themes of cases over the past two decades, from Poll to this most recent decision.
